The rhizome cuttings technique is mainly suitable for monopodial bamboos with runner-type rhizomes. Rhizome with roots, rhizome with culm and roots, or rhizome with culm-stock and roots are being used for propagation. Rhizomes should not be more than one-year-old, without any physical damage and should have roots attached to them for successful rooting and sprouting. If transportation is involved, the rhizomes should be protected from drying as in offsets.
