World Bamboo Day 2024 at BTSG KFRI
World Bamboo Day 2024 was celebrated at KFRI, Peechi. The event was inaugurated by Sri P P Raveendran, President of BTSG KFRI, who also distributed bamboo seedlings to farmers and artisans.
Dr. Kannan C S Warrier, Director of KFRI, presided over the programme, highlighting the critical role of bamboo restoration in mitigating the effects of climate change and landslides in Kerala.
Notable attendees included Dr Sreekumar V B., Dr R Jayaraj and Dr Siljo Joseph, alongside enthusiastic participation from farmers, artisans, and students.
As part of the celebration, KFRI conducted a one-day demonstration on bamboo treatment and processing techniques using advanced machinery and nursery practices for members of the Ezhakkad Bamboo Cooperative Society, Palakkad.
